SELF-DRIVE
SAFARI IN botswana

Self-drive, adventure on your own and get pampered for 13 days.

Imagine this. Your arms are getting tired after a day of driving through the bush and suddenly you see an oasis on the horizon. A dreamlike image! Not much later, with a sundowner in your hand, you are watching the animals drink at the waterhole from a hammock. This self-drive safari in Botswana enables you to optimally combine excitement and relaxation. From lodge to lodge, from the Moremi Game Reserve to the Chobe River and Khwai Private Game Reserve. Want to create a trip like this together?

Day 1 - 2

Get to know your 4x4 in Maun!

Head in the clouds! Literally and figuratively, because today you fly to the safari capital of Botswana. Feel at home in the northern town of Maun. Here you will be warmly welcomed by our local colleagues. You will receive your car. The rental company will make sure that the 4×4 is ‘ready for action’ and will give you the necessary instructions. After that, there is plenty of time to explore Maun and do some shopping in this lovely town. The next day your adventure starts to begin!!

Wondering if this is the safari in Botswana for you? We are happy to hop on a call and discuss further!

Day 2 - 5

Self-drive from Camp Moremi.

Up early! With lots of energy and a full tank. Today the real adventure begins with a beautiful two-hour drive to the entrance of Moremi Game Reserve. We can bet you’ll see some elephants along the way too? Welcome to wild Botswana! From Camp Moremi, you will spend the next few days on a game drive with a local guide. Expect bathing elephants, hippos, lots of special birds and maybe even lions. Be sure to bring your camera, because this is a wildlife photography paradise. Small tip: discover the delta with the traditional mokoro or motorised boat. Everything is possible and included in this stay.

Day 5 - 8

Night drive game spotting at Khwai Private Game Reserve.

During the drive from Moremi to Khwai, don’t forget to look around you! The journey itself is already a mini safari. Once you arrive at Little Sable, say goodbye to your car for a few nights as you’ll be experiencing a little bit of luxury along the edge of the Delta! Get ready for incredible guided game drives and encounter wild dogs, special birds and much more wildlife. Our highlights? Sundowners at the most beautiful lagoons and, above all, a special nighttime guided game drive through the bush. During this unique experience, we highly advise you to pay close attention to what your guide says! We would be happy to tell you over a call.

Day 8 - 10

Lion and leopard spotting in Savuti.

Ready for a long, but oh so beautiful, drive with your car again? Hit the gas! The water of the Delta disappears in the rearview mirror, in front of you are the woodlands and plains of Savuti. Here you will stand eye to eye with the Savuti Marsh Pride, a group of more than twenty lions. And… if you’re lucky, you will be spotted by the beautiful gaze of a leopard. Who is looking at whom here? High time to wash off all that tension in the plunge pool of Savuti Safari Lodge. Where you will have an equally beautiful view of animals too, we might add! Well-deserved enjoyment.

Day 10 - 12

Bathing elephants in the Chobe River.

On to Kasane! But before you arrive, there is still a five-hour drive through Chobe National Park. Eyes on the road, because who knows what kind of wildlife you will encounter on the way. Slowly, the wilderness changes back into the civilised world. Time to give your 4×4 that well-earned rest too. You are picked up in Kasane and your guide takes you to the Chobe Game Lodge on the Chobe River. This is the destination for boat safaris, where you can see bathing elephants, chilling hippos and sunbathing crocodiles. Or would you prefer a game drive along the banks of the river? For extra adrenaline, a day trip to Victoria Falls is highly recommended!

Day 12 & 13

Back with a rucksack full of unforgettable adventures.

All good things come to an end. But it is up to you to keep this adventure alive for as long as possible. Tell your stories, show your pictures, and inspire others. Botswana deserves to be seen by friends and family. We are sure that on the flight back you will be eager to share your enthusiasm with the people back home. Of course, we are also curious about your adventures and would love to hear all about your adventures.
