Your 13-day itinerary
Day 1 - 2: Gentle start in Maun: welcome to the safari capital of Botswana
Day 1 - 2
Gentle start in Maun: welcome to the safari capital of Botswana
Upon arrival in Maun, you will be picked up by our local colleagues. You will stay in a lovely B&B with a garden, perfect for acclimatizing. Maun is the gateway to the wilderness and has surprisingly nice spots for families. Tip: have lunch at The Duck or the Dusty Donkey, laid-back and kid-friendly. For those who want: enjoy a local beer at Okavango Brewery. Tomorrow the real adventure begins!
Day 2 - 4: Expedition by quad and sleeping under the stars
Day 2 - 4
Expedition by quad and sleeping under the stars
After a short transfer by road, you will arrive at Planet Baobab. This magical place is located near the Makgadikgadi salt pans, where you will soon set off for a family expedition by quad! You will spend the night outdoors (warmly wrapped up) under a sky full of stars. In the morning, you will wake up on the salt pans and meet a family of meerkats. This unique experience will leave a deep impression, especially on the children. Afterwards, you will be brought back to Maun where your bush plane will be waiting!
Day 4 - 6: Waking up in the Delta, back to basics
Day 4 - 6
Eco-adventure in Oddballs Camp, in the heart of the Delta
From Maun, you will fly to the heart of the Okavango Delta. Oddballs Camp is back-to-basics, but charming and entirely focused on families. From the camp, you will explore the Delta on foot or by mokoro, a traditional canoe. The guides explain everything and ensure safety and fun. The children learn to recognize tracks, listen to the sounds of the bush, and then sleep like roses. Meanwhile, you can enjoy the view of the lagoon. Spotting wildlife from your chair, with a glass in hand. That can be done here!
Day 6 - 9: Safari in Khwai: tons of wildlife
Day 6 - 9
Safari in Khwai: a ton of wildlife
Travel by bush plane further to the Khwai area. The guide from Sango Safari Camp is already waiting with a spacious 4×4. Here, everything revolves around game drives: during the day and at sunset. In this wildlife-rich private area, the chances of seeing elephants, lions, giraffes, hippos, and wild dogs are high. Children learn all about animal behavior and sleep like a log after so much excitement. The camp is comfortable, with friendly staff and delicious food. Yes, also for the little ones.
Day 9 - 12: Shinde Footsteps, luxury adventure for the whole family
Day 9 - 12
Shinde Footsteps, luxury adventure for the whole family
The charming Shinde Footsteps is located in a remote part of the Delta. Here, you and a guide determine the ideal program together. Think about boat safaris, night rides, walks, mokoros, and of course, even more game drives. Since it’s a private area, you even get to go off-road! The atmosphere is relaxed, the service is top-notch, and there is plenty of time to relax between all the action. Children have plenty of space to ask questions and participate actively. A perfect conclusion!
Day 12 - 13: Returning home with memories for a lifetime
Day 12 - 13
Back home with memories for a lifetime
After a final morning activity, you return to Maun. Time to say goodbye to Botswana. But not to the memories! During the return flight, the first stories are already bubbling up about meerkats, nights in the bush, and spotting that lion! Your family has experienced something special and can’t wait to pack your bags for the next safari in Botswana. And we also want to hear all about your trip!
