Day 1 - 5: Jack's Camp: safaris, design and salt pans

Welcome to Botswana! You flew via Johannesburg to Maun, where the bush plane is already waiting to take you to Jack’s Camp. This camp is an icon: an oasis of style and history, designed to evoke the spirit of a classic expedition camp, in the midst of the Makgadikgadi salt pans. Think luxurious safari tents with antique furniture and black-and-white photographs, a cozy tent library, a pool with a view, and a collection of curiosities you’d expect to find in a museum.
The days here are filled with adventure and wonder. You will drive on the salt pans in a 4×4 or quad, meet a meerkat colony, and walk with the San, who share their ancient knowledge of the desert. Those who wish can even ride horses towards the endless horizon. Back at camp, you can enjoy a plunge pool, sunsets, and dinners under thousands of stars. After the last morning activity, the bush plane will take you to the Okavango Delta for the next chapter of your trip.

Your next destination awaits! After the dry plains of the salt pans, you will land in a completely different world: the green waterways of the Okavango Delta. During the day, you glide in a mokoro through the lagoons or venture out into the savanna in a 4×4, searching for herds of lechwe and buffalo—and the predators that follow them. In between, the lodge awaits with exceptional meals and a spa where you can unwind completely. In the evenings, you raise your glasses as frogs and crickets strike up their nightly chorus. High above the plains of the Okavango Delta awaits a magical retreat: the Baobab Treehouse of Xigera. Ten meters above the ground, you sleep in a design masterpiece resembling an ancient baobab. Open, pure, and yet surprisingly comfortable. After a sundowner, you will climb up to your private hideaway, where a king-size bed and a panoramic deck await you. As the sky darkens, all you van hear are hippos in the distance, elephants passing by, and maybe even the deep roar of a lion.
With the first morning light, the birds wake you as the delta slowly awakens. From the Baobab Treehouse, you will fly on to Duba Plains.

Today you will fly deeper into the Okavango Delta to the exclusive Duba Plains Camp: a private concession of a staggering 33,000 hectares. This area is pure delta magic: islands filled with palm trees, vast floodplains, and papyrus fields where herds of red lechwe and buffalo graze – and where predators are never far away. With a bit of luck, you might even spot a rhinoceros, a rarity in Botswana.
At Duba, you will stay in a luxury suite with a private guide, chef, and staff. Everything here revolves around flexibility: safaris by 4×4, walks, or water adventures during the day or evening. You can dine with other guests or opt for a completely private dinner – the choice is yours. Swarovski binoculars and Canon cameras are available for your use throughout the stay.
