Why we love Moremi in Botswana
"Here, everything comes together: water, wildlife, and that ultimate safari feeling."

Moremi Game Reserve is one of the most impressive and readily accessible natural areas in Botswana. Located in the eastern part of the Okavango Delta, it offers a unique combination of open floodplains, dense forests, and permanent water channels. Unlike private concessions, Moremi is a national park, accessible to travelers with their own 4×4 or via guided mobile safari camps. Here, you drive yourself through the bush, looking for elephants, giraffes, lions, and (with a bit of luck) the rare African wild dog. The campsites are wild and unfenced: sleep under the stars, with only the sounds of nature around you.
In addition to this pure form of safari, there are also a few excellent lodges, such as the stylish Camp Moremi or the intimate Xakanaxa Camp, both beautifully situated on the edge of permanent channels. Here you can get on the water by boat or mokoro and experience wildlife up close. Moremi offers the best of both worlds: the freedom of adventure or the comfort of a lodge. All in the midst of one of Africa’s most beautiful wildlife areas.
Best time to travel
The best time to visit Moremi in Botswana is from June to October. In these dry months, animals flock to the water and the roads are easily navigable. Ideal for self-drive travelers. Boat trips are also perfectly feasible. During the rainy season (November to March), it is quieter, greener, and the birdlife is overwhelming, but parts of the park can be difficult to access.

What others say about this area
"Moremi gave us an old-school safari feeling: self-driving, wild camping, and then suddenly encountering a pack of wild dogs in front of the car."
