Why we love the Okavango Delta
"The Okavango Delta does something to you: it's actually hard to explain"

The Okavango Delta is undoubtedly one of the most captivating places in the world. This UNESCO World Heritage site is hidden like an oasis in the dry heart of the Kalahari. Every year, life-giving water flows into the delta from the Okavango River originating in Angola, creating a unique ecosystem of shimmering lagoons, papyrus channels, and fertile plains. From July onwards, the water reaches its highest point, just as the dry season begins. It is a magical interplay that results in spectacular wildlife concentrations.
What makes the Delta so special? The combination of silence, water, and wildlife. Here, you glide through reeds and lilies by mokoro, while elephants drink from the riverbank. Or you take a boat safari at sunset, with hippos beside you and a gin & tonic in your hand. Most lodges are remote, often on little islands, accessible only by plane or helicopter. They offer an exclusive experience right in the heart of nature. Think stylish tents, personal service, a great level of guiding, and rare tranquility. This is safari in its purest form.
Best travel time
The best time to visit the Okavango Delta is from July to October, during the dry season. The water is high during this time, and animals gather around the canals. Ideal for mokoro trips, boat safaris, and bush walks.
From April to June is quieter, with a lush, growing Delta.
The rainy season (November to March) also has its charm: the landscape is bright green, and bird lovers and photographers get plenty of opportunities.
