Why we find Victoria Falls amazing
"You can hear the waterfalls long before you see them. And then you feel: this is going to be special!"

Victoria Falls, also known as Mosi-oa-Tunya (the smoke that thunders), is one of the most iconic natural wonders of Africa. Located on the border between Zimbabwe and Zambia, the Zambezi River thunders down here over a width of more than 1,700 meters. A visit to the falls is an overwhelming experience: the mist, the rainbows, the roar, and the contrast with the green gorge leave a deep impression.
Most travelers combine a stay in Victoria Falls Town (Zimbabwe) or Livingstone (Zambia) with a safari in Botswana, usually from Kasane. The border is only a 1.5-hour drive away. You can enjoy great food in both places, visit art markets, listen to local music, and stay in lodges or hotels with a view of the mist from the falls.
Besides a walk along the falls, there are countless other cool activities: from a helicopter flight and bungee jump to a sunset cruise on the Zambezi. Or how about a visit to Devil’s Pool?
Best time to visit
The falls are at their most powerful from March to May, just after the rainy season. From July to October, the view of the gorge is best, but there is less water. In any case, both periods offer a unique experience.
