“Zarafa is safari as it was meant to be: private, pure, and beautiful”
On the edge of the sparkling Zibadianja Lagoon, in the heart of the Selinda Concession, lies Zarafa Camp. This high-end lodge is the personal project of wildlife filmmakers and conservationists Dereck and Beverly Joubert, who designed the camp from their deep love for Botswana and its wild inhabitants. With only four extremely luxurious suites, Zarafa offers an unparalleled combination of privacy and natural beauty.
A camp full of character
Zarafa breathes style and tranquility. Each tented suite is furnished with antique African wood, warm colors, and soft fabrics. Think of copper bathtubs, open fireplaces, a spacious bathroom, air conditioning, and a private plunge pool overlooking the lagoon. Everything exudes quality and refinement without ever losing the connection to the bush.

Safari through a filmmaker’s lens
Unique to Zarafa: each suite is equipped with a Canon 5D camera with a 100–400mm lens and a Swarovski binocular. Guests are encouraged to capture their own wildlife stories, just as Dereck and Beverly have been doing for decades in their award-winning documentaries.

Activities in the Selinda Concession
- Bush dinners in secluded spots under the stars
- Private game drives with personal guide and vehicle
- Walking safaris (from 12 years) including tracking and behavioral explanations
- Seasonal mokoro and boat safaris on the lagoon
- Birdwatching and high-level photography
Wildlife in abundance
The Selinda Concession is one of Botswana’s best-kept secrets. Predators such as lions, leopards, wild dogs, and cheetahs call it home, along with large herds of elephants, buffalo, and grazing herbivores. The area is diverse: open grasslands, riverine forests, and seasonal swamps, always rich in life.

“Stay half an hour longer on your own deck, because what you see then, you will never forget”
Who is Zarafa for?
For those who do not compromise on experience, comfort, and space. Zarafa Camp is ideal for couples, photographers, and nature lovers who wish to hear the silence and take their time. Here you are not a tourist; you are a guest in a wild paradise.
