GENERAL INFORMATION

Botswana - is the biggest and youngest republic in Africa.

Did you know that Botswana is sixteen times the size of the Netherlands? It’s also rated as one of the safest countries in the world. Botswana is situated between South Africa, Namibia, Zimbabwe and Zambia. In 1966, Botswana became an independent republic and has maintained democracy, stability and harmony ever since. It is also one of the richest countries in Africa. Botswana boasts some of the most beautiful national parks in the world and does so without mass tourism! Safe travel in Botswana is mainly done by 4×4, plane, boat, helicopter or mokoro (canoe). Depending on the area, this can be done with or without a ranger. We will be happy to tell you more about it over a call.

Travel with ease by arranging the necessary documents well in advance.

With a simple Google search, you can find out exactly what you need to travel to Botswana. Below we have linked some popular sites to help you get started. In general, though, make sure your passport is still valid for at least 6 months when you land in Botswana and always book your return flight. Travelling with kids? Ask for the international birth certificate in the place of birth of your child(ren). Besides your national driving license, it is also advisable that you also take an international driving license with you. You can easily obtain one at your traffic department.

It’s always best to get the most up-to-date information from the travel clinic or your doctor. Especially because the advice and requirements concerning vaccinations can change. In many cities, there are sufficient ATMs, but make sure you bring a Visa credit card. It is also good to have cash in your wallet. We recommend US dollars or Pula. Also, don’t travel with old notes. How much should you tip? That is for you to decide, but know that salaries in Botswana are often low. In restaurants, ten percent is the guideline, for private rangers this percentage is higher.
